Pre-upgrade facts • No more hardware certifications • Check support web site for minimum specs • Check that the licenses are ready (CIC, HMP, EasyScripter, Media Servers, etc) • Download latest HMP release (3.0 SU221) • Read the docs! Gets revised every day based on customer feedback • Can upgrade the DB before running the install (backwards compatible with previous versions)

  3. Recordings upgrade • Recordings take a long time to upgrade • CIC Server will be slowed down during this process • Try to use another server to run this process if possible

  4. Installation Medias • DVD • ISO file. Use Daemon Tools lite • USB Key? 4 Gb minimum is required • USB is recommended. Allows install updates.

  5. Integrations • Installing a PSO package? • Check the current upgrade status on the support web site

  6. Before you begin – All xIC servers • Do a full backup • Export Registry • Run Interaction Migrator (requires .Net Framework 2.0)

  8. Before you begin – Overall procedure • Disable switchover • Upgrade backup server • Test backup server • Install client software updates • Make new server active • Upgrade ex-primary server • Enable switchover

Let’s rock n’ roll! • Set all services to manual (xIC, Handset audio, Authentication server, RTM server) • Uninstall HMP/Dialogic/Aculab • Reboot • Install new version of HMP/Dialogic/Aculab • Reboot • Install xIC 3.0. Reboot. • Install Documentation • Install Language Pack • Install latest SU • Reboot 

  10. Let’s rock n’ roll! • Run Setup Assistant • Remove old Windows shares • Open IA: Set MRCP connection in IA (prevents an error in the event viewer) • Media Resource Control Protocol: Allows mutliple TTS and Speech recognition servers

  13. xIC Upgrade - continued • Run Setup Assistant • Remove old client/supervisor install shares • Open IA: Set MRCP connection in IA (prevents an error in the event viewer) • Media Resource Control Protocol: Allows mutliple TTS and Speech recognition servers • Dialer: Upgrade CCS • Dialer: Install CCS SU • Dialer: Upgrade ODS (usually on xIC server) • Dialer: Install ODS SU (must be same as CCS) • Recorder: Upgrade compression servers

  16. Other pieces of hardware • Upgrade Media Server • Media server MUST be on same SU as xIC • Upgrade Interaction Gateway (not required but recommended) • Easy update of IG: Copy update via FTP & reboot

  17. SIP Auto Provisioning • New feature in CIC 3.0 • Requires a network administrator to make changes • DNS changes • DHCP changes • Uses NTP server(s)

  18. xIC Upgrade – Polycom phones • Copy new firmware files in I3\IC\TFTPRoot • Reset phones

  19. Significant technical 3.0 changes • SUs will not overwrite modified system handlers if present in 30handlers directory.

  21. Nice things about CIC 3.0 • Connect to an existing session of the .net client (also works with Outlook edition)

  22. In the near future • No more TDM support (starting in xIC 4.0) • Don’t sell board-based solutions if possible • Upgrade current customers to HMP
