  1. Week 19, Day Two HW # 61- Complete your DNA model questions Warm up What are the four bases in DNA? Which pairs with which?

  2. Warm up Response -Adenine- Thymine -Guanine- Cytosine A and G are larger

Each base is paired by hydrogen bonding with its specific partner, A with T and G with C. (c) Each parental strand now serves as a template that determines the order of nucleotides along a new, complementary strand. (b) The first step in replication is separation of the two DNA strands. (d) The nucleotides are connected to form the sugar-phosphate backbones of the new strands. Each “daughter” DNA molecule consists of one parental strand and one new strand. DNA replication • The parent molecule unwinds, and two new daughter strands are built based on base-pairing rules T A G C A T T A C G

  4. Homework Response/Check Did watch the video? Did you read p. 176?

  5. Goals for Today • 5 minutes to revise your quiz • Make a DNA model Video • Things to remember • The order of the nitrogen bases along a gene forms a genetic code that specifies what type of protein will be produced • ATGC attach to the SUGAR • DNA is super coiled and held together with special proteins. • Visitor in class tomorrow
