Week 1 • Read Act I & II from “Much Ado About Nothing” • I will read Scene 1 and then we’ll discuss what has been read & I’ll show them No Fear Shakespeare on www.sparknotes.com for easy reading • Divide class in half to act out Act I Scene II and Act II Scene II & III • Small groups to discuss and create charts on the elements of literature revealed in the first two scenes • Quiz on Friday over Elements of Literature • Plot, Characters, and Setting
Week 2 • Read Act III and watch movie • Dividing the class into two, act out Scenes I, III, and V • Learn about Puns: • A literary device that achieves humor or emphasis by playing on uncertainty • In small groups write examples of Puns from what we have read • Line 20-21 on page 23 • Friday Quiz on Examples of Puns
Week3 • Read Act IV • Monday - Write Thesis for Comparative Research Paper between the two main relationships throughout the play: Claudio & Hero Vs. Benedick & Beatrice • They can use www.infohio.org for help • Divide the class and Act out Scene 1 • Watch movie
Week 3 cont. • Learn about Double Entendres • A kind of pun in which the word or phrase usually has a sexual meaning • Split into small groups to collect examples from read material • Line 128-129 on page 36 • Friday – Turn in Introduction paragraph • Quiz on Double Entendres Examples
Week 4 • Monday – Work on body of Comparative paper • Read Act V • Read Scene I out loud and act out Scenes II and IV • Learn about malapropisms • Occurs when a character mistakenly uses a word the he or she has confused with another • Write on the board examples • Line 63 on page 54
Week 4 cont. • Friday – Students turn in completed paper and have a quiz on Examples of Malapropisms • Finish watching the movie
