  2. Direct objects are….. • A direct object is a noun or pronoun that receives the action of a “action verb" in an active sentence or shows the result of the action. • A direct object answers the question "What?" or "Whom?" after an action verb.

  3. Direct objects are….. • The subject of a sentence usually can answer the question Who? • The action verb in a sentence usually displays action! • The direct object should follow the two!!! • Direct objects CAN be more than one word as well!!!

  4. Direct objects are….. • Direct objects can be nouns, pronouns, phrases, or clauses. • If you can identify the subject and verb in a sentence, then finding the direct object—if one exists—is easy.

  5. Direct objects are….. • Just remember this simple formula: who/what + verb= direct object (what) For example: Cris and Derrick played basketball with a crate pulled from a backyard tree.
