Alternative 1: Institutionalised Process • Transfer of ETIS repository to an existing agency like JRC after project termination • Defined update and maintenance process • Agency runs the ETIS service • Data predominantly comprises harmonised statistics from official and other sources • Low costs for the “least common denominator” • “Modelled” data will initially be included but will be outdated in the short-term Concepts for Maintenance and Updating

Alternative 2: Piggyback with models ETIS provides tailor-made and comprehensive data packages for dedicated models like Trans-Tools Alternative data will not be provided Data generation is refinanced through model licence fees Additional data costs can be in the same amount as model licence fees or higher depending on the diversity of input needs 19/11/2011 Concepts for Maintenance and Updating 5
