Stuart Burden, Erie, CO Purpose • To provide an enjoyable, entertaining, and educational opportunity to the general public. • To address concerns of the State and local officials and provide the opportunity to demonstrate in a meaningful format the safety of seaplane operations. • To provide aviation enthusiasts and the general public alike, the opportunity to see and experience this amazing form of aviation.
Event Activities • 0700 – 1000 Pancake Breakfast • 0700 – 1000 Seaplane Arrivals • 1000 – 1700 Young Seahawks Program • 1000 – 1300 Seaplane Demonstrations and Activities: • Taxiing (normal and step), • Sailing, • Plow Turns, • Confined Area Operations, and • Docking, Beaching, and Mooring. • 1400 – 1700 Seaplane Seminars: • Invasive Species Control, • Right of Way Rules, and • Pilot Certification Requirements.

Carter Lake Reservoir • The Reservoir • Size allows multiple landing directions • Sparsely populated approach paths • Multiple large areas for seaplane beaching and demonstrations • Close Proximity to Community and Medical Services
Seaplane Beaching, Docking, and Static Display Areas • 1500 feet of Available Beaching Area (Pictured 1000 feet) • 55’ wide Boat Ramp to allow Amphibian access for Static Display
Young Seahawks Program • The Young Seahawks Program is an educational experience available to children between the ages of 8 and 17. • The program is patterned after the Experimental Aircraft Association’s “Young Eagles” program. • Aircraft rides are offered free of charge to those children that qualify. • Each child will be required to have a signed release form from their parents/guardians. • Pilots participating in the Young Seahawks Program will be fully qualified and must be approved by event staff and the Federal Aviation Administration.
Concept of Operations • Park Operations • Request no-fee entrance for all attendees • All Normal Park Functions • Swimming, Boating, and Fishing as Usual • Event Personnel Will Provide Security Of Aircraft. • Seaplane Operations • NOT An Airshow • There will be no aerobatics only demonstration of normal seaplane activities • FAA approval is not required • ANS Inspections
Parking Plan • Parking for Event • Main – Paved Surface (cap ~200 cars) • Handicap • Vendors and Sponsors • Overflow • TBD • Van will transport visitors from Overflow Parking
Traffic Management • The event is not expected to create an excessive burden on vehicular traffic. However, if traffic should become congested due to event traffic, event staff will supplement law enforcement personnel to help direct and ease congestion. • Emergency Vehicles will be provided in the main display area. • Emergency plans will provide for traffic shutdown to allow ingress and egress.
Setup & Cleanup • Setup • Event Personnel will setup the Display Area and Traffic Control • Vendors will be responsible for their own setup and cleanup • Port-a-potties (4) • Trash Collection (Dumpsters) (1) • Individual Tents (10X10) (~7) (Vendors and exhibitors) • Cleanup • Event personnel will pick-up and remove Event materials and a crew will be assigned to perform a walk-through of park grounds to remove loose items of trash.
