  2. Summary • James Frye gets away with the killing of a physician • Later gets caught and convicted of armed robbery • During the trial he is administered a primitive lie detector test which is unreliable. • Due to the test, he avoids the death sentence.

  3. Significance • This case set the standard in scientific examinations. • In court, all scientific evidence must meet a certain requirement to be deemed reliable . • This is known as the “Frye Standard” • This proves the admissibility aka legitimacy of the scientific evidence.
