Access to Basic Services • Private Sector and Community Based Responses to Public Sector Gaps • Helping smaller firms and individuals access off grid energy solutions and community based infrastructure • Strengthening innovative PPPs to provide basic infrastructure in transport, water and sanitation, energy and social sectors such as health and education
The Problem being Addressed • Insufficient capacity to effectively plan and carry out PPPs • Inadequate legal, regulatory and institutional environment for PPPs • Frequent renegotiations • Unintended fiscal consequences
Goals • Improve capacity in LAC to plan and implement efficient and effective infrastructure PPPs at the national, state and community levels • Expand access to, and improve quality of, basic services through PPPs – particularly Pro-Poor PPPs (or P5)

Infrascope: PPP Readiness Index and Software Tool for Water and Sanitation and Transportation PPPs • Developed and published by the Economist Intelligence Unit that assesses a country’s readiness and capacity for public private partnerships in water and transportation • Evaluates 19 nations in Latin America and the Caribbean, according to their relative performance in five key areas, using 18 indicators • Platform for policy dialogue with countries as well as tool to measure impact performance of MIF capacity building projects • Learning tool for governments and donors • Available on the web at WWW.PPPAMERICAS.ORG
