The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) prohibits discrimination on the basis of disability in various areas such as employment, government agencies, public transportation, and telephone services. Brunswick Fire Company No.1 also aims to follow ADA guidelines and requests members to provide necessary documentation for accommodation.   2. 04-19Americans with Disabilities Act • The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) prohibits discrimination on the basis of disability in employment, state and local government agencies, transportation provided by public accommodation and commercial facilities, and telephone services available to the public.

  3. 04-19Americans with Disabilities Act • It is the intent of the Brunswick Fire Company No. 1 not to, discriminate in anyway shape or form. • If a time arises when a member fits the criteria of the ADA, it is the responsibility of that member to provide the Chief with a signed letter from that member’s doctor stating what types of duties are permissible to be performed by that member.

  4. 04-19Americans with Disabilities Act • Meaning, it will be up to the member and his/her doctor to determine what should be or shouldn’t be performed. • That information will be kept confidential between the member, his/her doctor, and the Chief.
