  2. What Are Asylum Seekers? • Asylum Seekers are refugees leaving their country illegally for safety.

  3. Why come to Australia? • It’s all about the location of Australia. If you look at the map below, Christmas Island is closest safe place to Indonesia and will be taken to one of their detention centres.

  4. Why take them to detention centres? • It’s part of the immigration process. They get taken to detention centres to prove they’re true Asylum Seekers and if they aren’t Asylum Seekers; that’s where they stay.

  5. Why is this illegal? • This is illegal because they are moving countries without a passport, their rickety boats are dangerous and they could die.

  6. What happens back at home? • A war/creed is back at lower Asia. That is why they immigrate in the first place.
