  7. Service Week • 3 days of student speakers to inform students of the service opportunities on campus and in the community • to provide information about SSP • to provide a brief overview of COSGA’s TOUCH program

  9. Mechanics Park Clean-Ups • weekly park clean-ups in the fall and spring (weather-dependent) • work with the Heart of Biddeford and Knights of Columbus

  10. Box Tops for Education • collection of Box Tops and Labels for Education • friendly competition between OMS-I and OMS-II • supports the Biddeford School District • winner chooses the recipient

  11. Biddeford PTA 5K Race for Education • 5K & 1 mile fun run • volunteers for parking, registration, backup timing, post-fun run activities for kids, and OMT treatment

  12. Biddeford PTA Family Fun Nights • encourage families to be active together and to take charge of their mental and physical health • heart health station • pasta noodle jewelry station • SMART Board Adventure to Fitness

  13. McArthur Home • first Friday of every month • board and card games, such as cribbage, Bingo, scrabble, screw your neighbor, and left right center

  14. McArthur Home Spaghetti Dinner • spaghetti, desserts, music, games, and dancing

  17. Trivia Night • run by Champions Sports Bar & Brain Busting Trivia • all profits benefit the Biddeford Adult Literacy Program

  18. Thanksgiving Food Drive • non-perishable food drive • in conjunction with Sodexo’s food drive • additional collection from individuals participating in the Student Medical National Association’s regional conference this year at UNECOM

  19. Penny Wars • friendly competition between OMS-I, OMS-II, and faculty and staff • all proceeds are donated to the Biddeford Free Clinic OMS-II OMS-I faculty & staff

Strong Scholarship • Each year, SSP Kappa Chapter awards a $1,000 scholarship to a second year student who has demonstrated outstanding academic scholarship and provided noteworthy service to UNECOM, the osteopathic profession, and the surrounding community. We offer this scholarship in honor of the first dean of our college, William B Strong, DO. Members of the second year class are nominated by their classmates and submit an application, which is reviewed by a faculty committee of basic and clinical science professors.
