Background • By taking a postgraduate degree, you are probably highly interested in your subject of study or wish to hone your intellectual ability and research skills. • What would you like to do after you finish your master or doctor of philosophy degree? • Are you planning to develop a career outside academia? • Are you thinking of making a future in an entirely new arena? • In this presentation : • we are going to look at the firms/institutions did the 2005, 2006 & 2007 new graduates go six months after graduation, and • the placement services available to RPg students in HKU. Postgraduate students who are available for part-time work or internship positions as well as those who are looking for graduate positions or postgraduate employment opportunities are invited to post their personal particulars on NETmatch as soon as they are ready for job hunting. • Take particular care to fill in the ‘Supplementary Information’ section of NETmatch and provide adequate details about their career objective and relevant achievements. • Employers who find suitable job-seekers from NETmatch will approach them directly by e-mail.   16. Job Search Process & Support • Application, interview and assessment centre procedure workshops • Altogether 10 topics will be covered within this series of workshops. They are: • Application writing – application form, cover letter, résumé and supplementary sheet; • Interview technique – one-on-one interview and group interview; • Essay writing – English and Chinese; • Reasoning tests; • In-tray exercises; • Group discussions; • Presentation and impromptu talk; • Occupational Interest Questionnaire; • Simulation; and • Group exercise. • Details regarding these workshops are posted on (http://www.hku.hk/careers/events/regist.html) .   17. Job Search Process & Support • Recruitment talks • Every year more than 100 employers visit the campus to present their organisations to students. These are announced through the Weekly Bulletin. • Internship, graduate trainee and postgraduate employment opportunities • Employment vacancies are posted on either the Joint Institution Job Information System (JIJIS) or NETjobs. Since these opportunities occur throughout the year, job-seekers are advised to check the job boards at least once a week. JIJIS is located at (http://www.jijis.org.hk), while NETjobs is at (http://www.hku.hk/careers/netjobs). • Part-time jobs, private tuition positions, and summer or temporary jobs for students are also posted on NETjobs at (http://www.hku.hk/careers/netjobs).
