Session 2: What Does it Mean? Session 3: What Do We Do With It? Assessment & Data Driven Instruction Session 1: What Data Do We Have?
Session Overview Objectives • Describe the different types of achievement data we collect as a network • Explain how to access the different data and reports • Pull sample data from each assessment report
Student Achievement Data • ISTEP+ and ECA • Acuity • NWEA • Google Docs – your one-stop shop!
When would these reports be useful to pull? What would you use them for? ISTEP+ and ECA • Learning Connection • https://learningconnection.doe.in.gov • Reports • Achievement Reports • Admin Reports Growth Model-Enrollment ECA Status • Accountability Reports Growth Model-Accountability Report
INORS – ISTEP+ Reports • INORS • https://inors.turnleaf.com • Acad. Standards Summary • Prof. Performance Summary • Proficiency Roster • Class Academic Standards When would these reports be useful to pull? What would you use them for?
iTester – ECA Reports • iTester Administration • https://ineca.questarai.com • Reports • Summary • Disaggregate • Roster When would these reports be useful to pull? What would you use them for?
Acuity - Overview • ISTEP+ and ECA Predictive Assessment • Grades 3-8 Math and ELA • Grade 6 Science • Grade 7 Social Studies • Algebra I • English 10 • Assess increasingly more difficult content, so less of a growth measure. • Timed to authentically prepare for ISTEP/ECA
Acuity - Accessing • www.acuityathome.com • Reports • Assessment Reports • Filter by student, class, or school • Item Analysis Reports • Filter by class or school • Roster Reports • Filter by class or school • Summary Reports • Filter by student, class, or school
NWEA - Overview • Adaptive, growth-based assessments • All grades, math and reading • Taken 2-3 times per year, depending on the grade level’s testing environment • Can be taken as needed (RTI) • Adapts to student responses to determine their “level” of overall skill. • At 42 (reading) and 52 (math) questions, one of the biggest hassles is scheduling.
NWEA - Accessing • arlington-admin.mapnwea.org • ctas-admin.mapnwea.org • ctprep-admin.mapnwea.org • View Reports & Instructional Resources • MAP Reports • Achievement Status and Growth Report • Class Report • Grade Report • Student Growth Summary Report • Student Goal Setting and Progress Report (teacher)
Application – Report Discovery • For the remaining time, work with your table to find all of the data on the handout.
Final Thoughts Data-driven organizations do it better by: • recognizing that data doesn’t belong to IT • expecting all employees and departments to share data • supporting using data in employees’ day-to-day work • investing in training employees about how to use data in their jobs • tolerating questions and disagreements about decisions – as long as it’s based on data analysis • having executives that value data and support a data-driven culture
