What is Allergic Rhinitis? Human immune system is designed in such a way that if any intruder or foreign body enters the body, it start producing antibodies against it, to fight against it. Similarly, if anyone suffers from allergy rhinitis, the immune system will identify that harmful substance as an intruder. This harmful substance cause allergic reaction, and thus is called as allergen. Your immune system reacts to the allergen by releasing chemical mediators or histamine, causing symptoms in nose, eyes, throat skin, roof of mouth and ears.

Perennial Allergic Rhinitis: Certain indoor allergens such as urine, dried skin flakes and saliva found on pet dander, cockroach particles and dust mites droppings can also triggered allergic reactions. What are Diagnosis tests of Allergic Rhinitis? Diagnosis and Test The most commonly used are skin testing and blood testing. Special blood tests may be used to diagnose allergens, if you cannot under skin tests; such tests are known as IgE RAST tests and complete blood count (CBC) test, also called as Eosinophil count. An allergist or immunologist undergo specialized training and gain expertise in diagnosis procedures to identify specific allergens that triggered allergic reaction or to find out if your symptoms are non-allergic. To determine these allergens, allergy testing is done by these allergists.
What are different treatments method used to treat Allergic Rhinitis? • Allergy Shots: Immunotherapy or Allergy shots are preferred sometimes if you unable to avoid pollens and it is hard to control your symptoms. This includes regular shots of the pollen you are allergic to and each dose is higher than the previous dose. It is given until you reach the dose that helps to control your allergic symptoms. Commonly Used Drugs are: Antihistamines: These medicines can be used if symptoms do not occur often or last for longer duration. Many antihistamines taken by mouth can be bought without a prescription. These drugs may cause little or no sleepiness.
