Types of Employment Certificates and Permits • Student Non-factory Employment Certificate • Student General Employment Certificate • Full-time Employment Certificate • Various Permits
Student Non-factory Employment Certificate (AT-18) • For a minor 14-15 • Permit to work in any trade, business, or service • Does not apply to factory work, dangerous materials, or chemicals
Student General Employment Certificate (AT-19) • For a school attending minor, age 16-17 • Permitted to work in a factory, trade, business, or service • Does not apply to hazardous machinery, construction or helper on a motor vehicle
Full-time Employment Certificate (AT-20) • For a minor 16-17 not attending school • Permitted to work in a factory, business, or service • Does not apply to hazardous machinery, construction or helper on a motor vehicle
Permits • Farm Work Permit • Hand Harvest of Berries Permit • Newspaper Carrier Permit • Street Trade Permit • Child Model Permit • Performer Permit
Farm Work Permit (AT-24) • For minors 14-15 • Used for various types of farm work • Used during vacation, or when school is not in session • Does not apply to factory, of cannery work
Hand Harvest of Berries Permit (AT-25) • For minors 12-13 • Permitted to hand harvest berries • Must be accompanied by parent – OR – have parents written permission
Newspaper Carrier Permit (AT-23) • For minors 11-18* • May deliver and/or sell newspapers and periodicals to homes and businesses • Must carry permit while working * Federal law requires a minimum age of 14
Street Trade Permit (AT-26) • For self-employed minors 14-18 • May sell newspapers or periodicals on streets or in public places • May work as a shoe-shiner
Child Model Permit (AT-12) • For minors under 18 • May act/model
Performer Permit • Issued by the chief executive of the municipality in which the performance takes place
Obtaining Certificates & PermitsApplicant must show: • Written parental permission • Verbal (in person) parental permission • Proof of age • Certificate of physical fitness • Physical exam by a physician
