Road Safety Plan • Currently working to 2008/2010 plan • Key issues: • Speed • Impairment • Seat belts • Key targets: • Young drivers and passengers • People who drive at work
Road Safety Plan • Currently developing the 2010/2013 plan • Awaiting the publication of the new Government Road Safety Strategy • Analysis of collision and casualty data has been undertaken to ensure plan is evidence led

Targets • Government casualty reduction targets • Mayor’s extra casualty reduction targets • School travel plans
School Travel • All schools to have school travel plans by 2010 (2009 – Mayor’s Target) • Progress to date • 95% of Borough schools had approved travel plans by March 2009 • We had 99% completed by end of 2009 and aim to reach 100% during 2010
Issues and concerns • Recession - Future budget constraints and/or job losses • Good practice ratio for RSOs = 1:50,000 population (Bexley Actual = 1:100,000)
