  2. Test Dates Phase One -March 20 -Writing prompt Phase Two-April 12-13 -ELA & Math -April 16-17 -Science & Social Studies Students should have a breakfast including protein, as well as a good nights sleep! It’s best to get into this routine a week or so before, to make sure the students are used to it.

  3. Test Structure • Writing Prompt Scoring You can check the Louisiana Department of Education website for a sample scoring of the writings. • GLEs These state what your child is expected to know for the LEAP test. Both the Sample Scoring and the GLEs can be found through the state’s Education Website: http://www.doe.state.la.us/testing • Sessions • Types • Points per standard

  4. Test Taking Skills -Don’t leave any answers blank! Any question that goes unanswered will be marked as wrong. - Students should eliminate improbable answers to narrow down their choices. -Skip around, answer the problems you know first. Just remember to go back and make sure you have answered ALL questions when you are finished!

  5. More Test Taking Skills -Pay attention to key words like “not” and “about”. These words will help you understand what the question is asking and the type of answer they are looking for. See “The Twelve Words” handout for more key words to look for!
