Opportunities for Organisations from NMAS • Experience from Call 1 and 2 • Lower success rate than expected • Low number of project coordinators • Difficulties in exploiting new instruments (IP and NoE) • Agreement that Specific NMAS Measures Needed • To promote and facilitate participation • To catalyse partnership building with rest of Europe • To accelerate NMAS Integration in IST

Some NMAS Measures under Preparation • Partnering and Thematic Networking Events in 2004 • Specific IST Support Actions from Call 1 and 2 (IDEALIST 34, MENTOR+, EUROPEAN IST, GET-IN) • Objectives are to prepare NMAS constituency and to build partnerships and proposals for IST Calls in 2005-2006 • Call 3 NMAS Specific Support Actions • Specific Accompanying Actions • Coordination of national IST RTD Policies/Funding • IST WP 2005-2006 • Increasing “natural” integration of NMAS by taking NMAS capabilities into account in revised SOs • Specific NMAS IST RTD Tasks to be identified and inserted, possibly as dedicated SO

Stimulating, Encouraging and Facilitating Thematic NMAS participation in the IST Priority Objective is to launch IST measures complementary to those already launched to support: • Establishment/Reinforcement of Networks • Improving relevant thematic networking of organisations from NMAS with organisations from the other Member States • Information and Awareness Events • Enhancing geographical coverage • Enhancing thematic coverage • Promotion of Research Competencies in NMAS • Pan-European focus on thematic issues related to one or several IST Strategic Objectives

Possible Activities • Organisation of thematic brokerage events and seminars • Bringing together industrial and academic researchers from NMAS with relevant RTD entities from other Member States to facilitate consortia building • Organisation of thematic events, conferences, workshops with researchers from across Europe to promote IST participation • Support to creation, promotion, linking and maintenance of information systems and databases of research capabilities of NMAS organisations and researchers for facilitating consortia building

  7. Scale of Ambition/Budget • Coverage of key IST fields, with particular emphasis on IST call 5 and beyond • Good geographical coverage of NMAS • Must involve relevant actors with appropriate NMAS knowledge according to field/geographical area chosen • Budget: 10 Meuro
