ANNOUNCING A NEW PARTNERSHIP TO SUPPORT CONTINUOUS SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT
Partnership Agreement MDE/NCA (Signed 11/8/06) Goals of the Agreement: • Reduce the expense and duplication of effort that occur when MDE and NCA CASI manage separate school/district improvement and accreditation systems. • Align and support the work of schools and districts to engage in continuous improvement through NCA CASI accreditation and the MDE School Improvement Framework. (Press Release text available @ www.ncamichigan.org and www.michigan.gov/schoolimprovement
We Agree: • NCA CASI agrees to support the use of the MDE School Improvement Framework as evidence of meeting the NCA CASI standard for continuous improvement. • NCA CASI agrees to provide MDE with reports and documentation to verify schools’/districts’ adherence to the NCA CASI accreditation standards.
We Agree: • NCA CASI agrees to provide professional development to schools/districts that supports the use of the MDE School Improvement Framework. • MDE agrees to accept a school’s or district’s NCA CASI accreditation status as evidence of adherence to applicable MDE accreditation/improvement requirements to avoid duplicate reporting for schools/districts.
We Agree: • MDE agrees to recognize that schools/districts are accredited by NCA CASI on the Michigan report card and/or next version of ED YES! program. • MDE will encourage the use of NCA CASI accreditation by schools and districts as a voluntary process to help them meet and exceed local, state, and federal requirements.
We Agree: • To the extent possible, NCA CASI and MDE will share the same documentation and reporting to avoid duplication of effort for schools/districts. • NCA CASI and MDE will co-sponsor at least one statewide School Improvement Workshop each year available to all schools.
