Program Goals • Provide a rigorous, engaging educational pathway focused on an advanced study of world cultures, history, world languages, and current events • Prepare students for life in a world that grows smaller and more interconnected every day as a result of international events, economic developments, and technology • Prepare students for post secondary study and careers related to an international workplace Work Hard & Be Nice

  3. Program Components • Additional graduation credit requirements with a rigorous sequence of courses • Advanced Placement requirements • Field opportunities to apply classroom learning • A senior capstone research project Work Hard & Be Nice

  4. Program Requirements • Complete required courses • Obtain at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale • Successfully fulfill the senior capstone project Work Hard & Be Nice

  5. Credit Graduation Requirements • English 4 • Social Studies 3 • Global and International Studies 4 • World Languages 4 • Mathematics 3 • Science 3 • Fine Arts 1 • Physical Education/Health 1 • Career and Technology Education 1 • Electives 3 Total 27 Work Hard & Be Nice

Other Graduation Requirements • At least 12 credits in Certificate of Merit, Honors, or Advanced Placement level courses • Complete at least 3 Advanced Placement courses in English, Social Studies, or World Languages with a score of 3 or higher - AP Scholar Award • Complete at least through Level 3 World Language and obtain 4 total World Language credits • All general graduation requirements Work Hard & Be Nice

Senior Capstone Project • Identify a unique topic of interest to research during a mentorship with a local partner • Develop a multimedia presentation and written summation of research findings • Present research in a symposium format for parents/guardians and the community Work Hard & Be Nice

  14. Admission Criteria • Completed Algebra 1 in middle school • Recommended completion of year one of a World Language in middle school • Report Card Grades • MSA Data Work Hard & Be Nice

  15. To succeed in GIS…. • Reading is essential to GIS success. • Students must enjoy reading and understand its necessity for their overall growth with the program. • GIS is a humanities driven program, as a result, reading is an essential portion of the program. Work Hard & Be Nice

  16. Transportation • Bus transportation provided • LHS attendance area will use regular transportation system • Other areas of county will use a hub system • Details finalized once enrollment is confirmed Work Hard & Be Nice
