  3. Big Picture Question • Are individuals in one culture more likely than another to be impatient? Specific Question Are individuals in one culture more likely to press the “close” button when they get on the elevator?

  4. Hypothesis • We hypothesize that Koreans are living faster paced lives than Americans. We base this hypothesis on the idea that pressing the close button in an elevator is one of the many indications of impatience.

  5. Objective • Our main objective is to find out whether one society is more impatient compared to the other.

  6. Method • Place a camera in the corner of an elevator(where it cannot be seen easily) from 8:00-9:00a.m. and 7:00-8:00p.m. Count the number of people that press the button when they get on the elevator. • 2. Conduct a survey.

  14. Conclusion • Hypothesis: Koreans are more impatient than Americans SUPPORTED!!

  15. Potential Errors • Survey • only based on highschool students • different number of people in Korea and USA took the survey • circled more than one answer • Elevator Experiment • privacy issues • not all people get the opportunity to press the button when they get on the elevator • ex) if three people get on an elevator, only one person presses the button • different places where the research is conducted (apartment vs. hotel)
