  2. PsycINFO Introduction • PsycINFO is an APA database containing citations from over 1,300 journals for 1887-present • Included are empirical studies, case studies, literature reviews, conference proceeding, dissertations, etc.

  3. Locating PsycINFO • Click link for “Indexes and Databases” on Fogler web site. Go to “P” in A-Z OR • Go to Psychology Subject Portal for link

  4. Remote Access to PsycINFO • You will need to enter your name and the number below the bar code on the back of your UMaine card. • If you have a problem with your card, contact circulation at 581-1641.

  5. Smart Text Searching • The easiest way to search is to click on the box for Smart Text Searching

  6. Smart Text Searching -2 • Smart Text Searching uses one big box

  7. Using Limits • Peer review • Dates • Full Text (for this database)

  8. Major Subject Headings • Limit Results by Major Subject Headings • Or Copy and Paste for a new search

  9. Advanced Search • Advanced search provides 3 boxes for search terms • The screen is set to use AND between terms and default fields

  10. Advanced Search 2 • Advanced Search can limit for methodology

  11. Full Text Links • EBSCO full-text documents contain links labeled • buttons connect the citations to other full-text subscriptions

  12. Using Folders • Items can be saved in a folder by clicking on the icon next to the citation • This is a temporary folder • Sign up for My EBSCOhost for a permanent folder

  13. Search History • Look back to other searches using Search History • View or revise previous searches

  14. Google Scholar • Go to Preferences • Go to Library Link • Type in University of Maine and click on Find Library button

  15. Google Scholar -2 • Check box for University of Maine Full-Text @ My Library • Go to the bottom screen and click on Save Preferences button

  16. Google Scholar-Full-Text • Click on Full-Text @ My Library to open articles • Do not open the title of the article to try to get to full text
