2. Tizmos.com • This site is a web-based favorites site. By saving your favorite websites to this site, you can access them from any computer. • It can be a time-saver • The website is free • Sign-up here http://tizmos.com

3. Live Binders.com • Another free site that can be a real time saver! This site allows you to create “binders” for whatever you need rather than having to keep notebooks with real paper. It is a virtual notebook. You may upload information, pictures, mp3s, videos, pdfs – whatever you need then you can access it from anywhere you have an internet connection.

4. LiveBinders (cont.) • Your live binders may be private so that only you can see or edit them or you can make them public to share with others. Each binder has an option. 6. www.Zamzar.com • This site enables you to convert videos from YouTube to wmv or avi files that will play on the school computers in windows media player. • It is free to use. There are also subscriptions with more features, but there is a fee for those.

7. Rubrics • www.rcampus.com – has a rubric maker as well as samples from other people. Must register to create your own rubrics and save them. 8. www.Quizlet.com • This is an interesting site. It allows you to use the flash cards already created or to make your own. • There are music flash cards already made – some with pictures • The site is free unless you wish to create cards with pictures. • It offers several ways to learn vocabulary using games – lots of fun – can create competition between students.

9. www.Dictionary.com • This site, like Quizlet, offers flash cards to use. • There are numerous sets of cards for music including note names, theory, etc. • Good way to review and quiz • Free

10. NC MS Choral Section Site • http://ncmiddlechoral.webs.com • All the information for NC Honors and All-State Choirs, MPA information, Brian Busch Grant information, Conference information, etc. • This one should be bookmarked for easy reference

Other Organization Websites • www.ACDA.org – official site for American Choral Director’s Association • www.NCACDAonline.org – NC chapter of ACDA • www.NCMEA.net – NC Music Educators Site • www.MENC.org – National Assn of Music Educators site – lots of information by discipline as well as advocacy and general music ed information.

Theory Websites • www.Emusictheory.com – many skill and drill exercises to assist with teaching theory – rhythmic dictation and performance exercises, timed note name drills, some sections in C clef as well as treble and bass • www.Musictheory.net – theory ranging from beginner to collegiate levels. Ear training section as well. Some things are downloadable and free. • www.Teoria.com – lots of theory concepts

13. More theory sites • www.harmonicvision.com – Music Ace 1 & 2 are good for the elementary and middle school age student. The demo has a few exercises that students can benefit from. The tempo lesson is great for students that are have difficulty with maintaining a steady beat. • www.pianonanny.com – can be used in piano lab

14. Music Notation Software Finale – www.finalemusic.com Sibelius – www.sibelius.com Notion – www.notionmusic.com Noteflight – www.noteflight.com – web-based notation program that is easy to use. Noteworthy Composer – www.noteworthycomposer.com – an easy notation program you can purchase if you don’t have Finale or Sibelius

Choral Resources www.CPDL.org – public domain library – free downloads www.ChoralNet.org – site for all things choral – newsgroup, discussion threads, performing groups, concert listings, job posting nationwide, etc. www.musicanet.org – access to lyrics, some audio files to assist with proper pronunciation, and links to places to purchase music

Symphonic Resources • www.DSOkids.com – Dallas Symphony Orchestra – “classroom” is filled with games and activities – “Teacher’s Lounge” has lesson plans • www.SFSkids.org. – San Francisco Symphony – activities for kids addressing basics of music and instrument families • www.NYphilkids.org – NY Philharmonic – primarily designed for elementary but works for 6th grade general music classes

Other Good Websites • www.metronomeonline.com • www.musictechteacher.com – lots of quizzes, games, and lesson plans designed to introduce basic music concepts through technology. • www.musick8.com – lots of ideas in the idea bank under resources • www.k-12music.org – multitude of websites for music arranged by discipline

More Good Websites • www.soundtree.com – they have an online institute for renewal credits, web links, grant assistance, and daily links to other music sites • http://audacity.sourceforge.net – a FREE audio recorder and MP3 converter • http://hitsquad.com – has a software sampler with lots of freeware and shareware that’s music based.

19. More Websites • www.singers.com – lots of recordings of choirs categorized by voicing • www.smoothboard.net – Don’t have an interactive whiteboard in your classroom? Try this alternative with a Wiimote, software, and infrared pen. 20. Technology • The NCMEA website (www.ncmea.net) has lots of information for technology. Click Resources then go down to Technology. There are several links to multiple websites that may be of interest. • Also www.ti-me.org has the sessions from the convention. Lots of great information in these sessions.

Loops (usable in GarageBand, MixCraft, and similar programs) • www.freeloops.com – Nice simple licks that can be imported as mp3 or midi files • www.looperman.com – about 2000 loops to download and use. Need to register to use them • www.partnersinrhyme.com – some loops free, others for purchase

24. Eric Johnson’s presentations from Conference • His powerpoint can be found on the ncmiddlechoral website under conference 2011 tab if this doesn’t work. He has lots of technology ideas other that what I have included here. He is also open to answering questions at the email address listed on his presentation.
