  6. Results of Questionnaire • We found improvement was needed • 69% containers >48 hrs old • 29% were missing stat locks • Catheters left indwelling too long • So the ward went to work • Within weeks nurses noted how fast the foleys were being removed

  7. NSQIP Newsletter and Blitz • Newsletter • Emailed to everyone • Newletters distributed • Blitz • Daily education session on surgical wards for 1 week • Quick 5 minute presentation • UTI focus • Show the survey finding • Get staff interested = awareness

  8. Tips and Tricks • Know your data • Start small and focused • Right team members • Keep motivated • Frequent updates to staff/team • Expect stumbling blocks, but remember the team will get there, don’t give up
