Vásárhelyi Pál: Our school is named after Pál Vásárhelyi. He was born on25 March 1795 atSzepesolaszi. His father, Mátyás Vásárhelyi was a cantor school-master. His mother's name was Mária Téglási Bekk. The greatest achievement of his lifework was planning the regulation of the river Tisza, for which he got the commission in 1845. He put his whole enthusiasm and knowledge into this job. But during hisactivity, when he attended Tiszavölgy-Association conference, suddenly hedied on 18 April 1846. A statue was erected in the honour of him in Szeged in 1905.
Our School The building ofthe school is beautiful in architectural respect too, and it is one of the most modern schools of the country considering its installation and equipment. Its great advantage is that it is situated in a large area and its huge sportfield offers place for sport events and its court serves scene for school-ceremony of a high standard. The aesthetic and friendly milieu and the most modern educational tools of classrooms help the efficiency of education.
Entrance-system All students have a personal card, what they have to pull down before they enter and leave the school. So the truancy is less and the strangers can’t enter without control.
Uniforms • Every student hasto put on a schooluniform. • Every time atcelebrationsthe girls wearstandard whiteblouse. • The girls and boyswear T-shirt at P.E.lessons in thegym.
Teaching The school provides a General Certificate of Education after a successful final exam and we have chance to continue learning. We may learn 5 different languages,(English, German, Italian, French, Russian) and we learn vocational subjects, too.
Organisational structure • 9th grade: 4 classes – a, b, c, d • 10th grade: 4 classes – a, b, c, d • 11th grade: 4 classes – a, b, c, d • 12th grade: 4 classes – a, b, c, d • 13th grade: 2 classes – a, b • 2 classes on the 9th grade attend a language preparatory year, they finish the secondary school studies only after 5 years

Vocational training • After the final exam at the end of the secondary school studies with GCE different trades are taught (on medium and high level) based on the local teaching plans • economics and services • - commerce and marketing • - business management • - e.g. administrators of logistics, foreign trade administrators • Our school belongs to the Vocational Training Centre of Regional Integration of Csepel.

Summary The school’s community is good. There are a lot of interesting programmes. It is modern and well-equipped. That is a great school!
