• Criam continuidade no texto. • Levam o leitor a comparar ideias ou concluir ideias. • Mais detalhes em Linking Words.

• Ex: Fido is asleep. He is a good dog. His house is near the tree. (Fido está dormindo. Ele é um bom cachorro. Sua casa é perto da árvore ) • Pronomes: he, she, it, we, they, us, them, him, her, I, me, and you • Pronomes possessivos: his, her, hers, its, their, theirs, ours, our, my, mine, your, yours

• Ex: Many cities are overcrowded. But now there is help for the city.

• Ex: Fred’s car is fast and powerful. But is such a vehicle legal? And don’t hot rods like that pollute the air? ( O carro do Fred é rápido e potente. Seria tal veículo legal? Hot rods [ carro] nõo poluem o ar?)

  8. Pronomes Demonstrativos e Adjetivos: • São úteis para direcionar e enfatizar ideias. • This, that, these, and those. • Ex: Some people suggest giving up salt on popcorn. This idea, however, is ridiculous.

  10. Em inglês as conjunções recebem vários nomes, por exemplo: words of transition, words of connection, logical connectors, transition devices, cohesive devices, linking words, linking devices, discourse markers e connective adjuncts. Além disso, elas podem assumir diversos valores semânticos.

  11. Observe como a ausência de conectores dificulta a leitura do texto abaixo: Living in a small town has a number of advantages.  there is no pollution, the air is fresh, and you can even grow your own vegetables. There is peace and quiet, and less stress than in a big city, there are several problems to take into consideration too,  you have a family. The town is too small and far from other cities, it might be hard to find health care and good schools.
