This presentation will not… This presentation will … Criticize your work Tell you to change, although I’ve suggested a few things Tell you what I’ve learnt Tell you how this trip will help my project Tell you a few things I’ve noticed
What I’ve learnt Your personas are excellent! Such a great set of “moods” of people My organisation loves the idea of them for use as a content writers guide A challenge now is to get our 34 personas down to a sensible number
Goals Review this direction Objectives Activities What I’ve learnt Content Content strategy model
What I’ve learnt We use the same User Experience and User Centered Design techniques I was watching your Morae recordings of Usability Testing and, in practice, they’re identical Your Wireframes are beautiful. I’ll be making my wireframes less about text and more about arrows, diagrams and pictures in future
What I’ve learnt We have the same problems with UX/UCD Stakeholder expectations Budget issues – can’t afford studies People categorize things differently (Cow, Chicken, Grass) We’re all different, right? We all come from different places and have different opinions, thoughts and styles People need to be communicated differently (CEX, Management, Front line staff)
What I’ve learnt Change Management is key We’ve not got any Change Management resources so I’ve learnt some really good lessons Create change plan Communication, communication, communication Senior Management backing Keep people content
What I’ve learnt When choosing a supplier, make sure you get your content authors to help formulate the requirements They’ll be the people using the CMS – they need to drive the requirements Get a representative from the Contact Centre on the project specifically around the IA
What I’ve noticed Yes/No answers are important to you all On a few occasions I’ve heard a question asked and the answer is “maybe yes, but it depends, it could also be no” Helpful! I’ve heard philosophical questions being asked during meetings! “I need a red ball” – “define ball”
What I’ve noticed I’ve noticed some major documents take a while to get signed off They’re subject to lots of alterations while people are relying on them It’s something I’ll need to manage carefully when I get home
What I’ve noticed I’ve noticed during stand up’s, that if an important discussion comes out with an action, sometimes the context of the discussion is lost and further clarification is required (lots of other questions!) In my role, after one these discussions happens, I use a summary closing line to confirm and close the issue. If it’s an important decision I’ll send an email round the team for clarification
And finally… You’re a great team There is a strong bond across the team You communicate well You get on well with each other you might just be good actors! You’re all really hard workers
Thanks for having me and good luck!@grangestevegrange.steve@gmail.comwww.StevesSOCITMtrip.wordpress.comAny questions and can I get a quick photo?
