  1. Eid – Ul - Fitr Carlton J & I School

  2. Ramadan ends with a celebration called Eid – Ul- Fitr (the Festival of Fast Breaking). The festival begins when the first sight of the new moon is seen in the sky.

  3. Muslims are not only celebrating the end of fasting, but thanking Allah (God) for the help and strength that he gave them throughout the previous month to help them practice self-control.

  4. On the morning of Eid everyone dresses up in their best clothes and shoes.

  5. Women and young girls like to decorate their hands with beautiful patterns using mendhi (henna).

  6. On the morning of Eid special Eid prayers are offered. Men go the mosque and women pray at home. When Muslims pray they cover their hair to show their respect for Allah (God). Women wear scarves and men wear hats.

  7. After prayers everyone wishes each other a huge …… Happy Eid!

  8. Eid cards, gifts and money are often exchanged.

  9. Everyone looks forward to eating lots of delicious food on Eid day, especially after all that fasting!
