Australopithecus afarensis • Lived 3.5 to 2.9 MYA -Better known as “Lucy” -walked upright -Small brain case with a large face. -Chimpanzee-like features -Not part of the “Homo” Genus

Homo Erectus Lived 1.8 to 300,000 years ago -Longest living species that we will study -First to use fire -Very simple skull, but very similar to modern humans.
Homo sapien- Neanderthalensis Lived 230,000 to 30,000 years ago -Lived at the same time at modern humans -Short and powerful with the largest skull -Adapted to live in cold climates -First to show social development like caring for their sick and burying their dead.
Homo sapien - modern • Lived 120,000 years ago to present day -You are part of this species -Made elaborate tools of bone, antler and ivory -Items made of stone and wood -Produced artwork and cave paintings -language and culture.
