  1. 3 Ways to Recover Deleted Files on Mac Losing a file can be an extremely daunting experience especially when we are ones to blame for clicking on the “Move To Trash” followed by “Empty Trash” options. Fortunately, it is not too tough to retrieve the deleted files if the realisation of mistake happens quickly. Today we will take you through 3 such ways in which you can recover your deleted photos, documents, contacts and music files on the Mac. From The Trash Can Just like the “Recycle Bin” of Windows, all deleted files and folders are automatically stored in the “Trash” folder of Mac whether you manually drag them to the same or right click on the files and select “Move To Trash.” These files can be recovered readily if you haven’t emptied the trash folder by moving the mouse to the desired file, right clicking on the same and selecting the “Put Back” option. However, it is imperative to note here that this file restoration can be done within a span of 30 days of their initial delete as on passage of the same time, these files get deleted from the machine permanently. From Time Machine Backup People often have the tendency to empty the trash can which might lead to permanent deletion of the files from the system. In such scenarios, you can restore the desired files through Time Machine Backup by following the steps mentioned below: Firstly, you will have to click on the “Spotlight” icon located at the top right of Mac and type “Time Machine” in the search box. Secondly, you will have to open the software and click on the folder where your desired files used to be. Thirdly, you will have to click the upward arrow on the right of the Time Machine window and keep scrolling through the backup files unless all the deleted files start re-appearing. Finally, you will have to click on the Command button, select the target files and press “Restore” on the screen. You might be required to carry out the aforementioned process multiple times if the target files are in various folders of your Mac. A Data Recovery Program: For recovering files through a data recovery program you need to immediately stop using the Mac’s hard drive as that increases the chances of overwriting the space where the file you wish to recover is stored. You should also refrain from creating any backups or folders and downloading any software apart from the file recovery program in another computer or drive. You can easily recover the notes, contacts, call logs, messages, photos, calendar, third-party app data and reminders of your iPad or iPhone by making use of PhoneRescue, a data recovery software
