  2. Who is Andy Warhol? • Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania • Born in 1928 • Died in 1987 • Him and his Mom had between 8-20 cats • He usually wore a blond wig, large sunglasses, a black leather jacket and high heeled boots.

  3. Biography – Andy Warhol • He lived in a large building in New York City – called “The Factory” • It became a place for him to work, live, and a meeting place for famous people • In 1968, a woman shot Andy 3 times! Luckily he survived but he never fully recovered from his injuries.

  4. As an Artist… • Andy Warhol was an American painter who became the famous for his pop art style of painting. • He took images from cartoons, advertising, food industries, and entertainment and changed them by repeating, enlarging or distorting them. • He liked to paint things that are used everyday but no one ever thought about them

  5. What is “POP-ART”? • Pop-art first appeared in the 1950s in Britain • Pop Art is an art style which shows popular, everyday things in an excitingway! • An interest in creating images of popular things in the media (toys, singers, products, electronics…) • Pop art goes along with youth – YOU!

  6. Andy Warhol’s Technique • Andy Warhol is famous for his use of everyday, popular items in his artwork • Campbell’s Soup – 1968 • Andy loved soup and his mother often made them soup when they didn’t have much money
