  3. Activating Prior Knowledge • Have you ever read the word “lead”? • “Lead” can be read as /lēd/ or /led/. • “Lead” is a homograph because it has the same spelling but two different meanings? • In this case “lead” also has two different pronunciations.

  4. Concept Development • Homograph : a word with the same spelling as another or others but with a different meaning and origin, and, sometimes, a different pronunciation .
