Superstition is no joke people! If you see a black cat about to cross your path I know you take the nearest alley. If your only way down a hall when you’re in a hurry has a ladder in the middle of it you take the time to put that ladder away.

Superstition is no joke people! If you see a black cat about to cross your path I know you take the nearest alley. If your only way down a hall when you’re in a hurry has a ladder in the middle of it you take the time to put that ladder away.
When it comes to superstition I am more susceptible than the average bear, and it affects my life in interesting ways. Since you are reading this you are going to take a journey with me into the depths of my mind and how my superstitions affect my favorite pastime.
Billiards is a time honored hobby in bars across the globe and here in Ohio we have an extremely competitive set of leagues dedicated to this hobby (that should be a sport but that’s a whole other can of worms).
I take part in these leagues at the highest level……GOLD! And yes most weeks I have the unique sensation of banging my head against a wall due to the high level of competition I’m up against.
I have, however, found that my games go a lot better when I have a very unique set of items on my person. This is my superstition…this is my curse!
The first of these items is of course my lucky hat, no set of winning items is complete without something you have personally dubbed “lucky. I have had my lucky hat for about 5 years and I am rarely seen wearing any other, even my cheese head!
The second item is my watch on my left wrist, without which I don’t believe my arm looks right as I’m bridging. I personally like to wear Nixon watches when I shoot because they are comfortable, have a good weight so I can feel that it’s there, and they look pretty cool in the light.
I tried a few different kinds of watches but none seemed to have the game winning power of my Nixon watches; thus why I bought a couple spares. The third necessity is my mp3 player but it must be worn a specific way and playing a specific genre of music.
I wire the headphone cord up my back and around the left side of my neck so I can have the left earbud in, the right never seems to get the job done. And when it comes to music I have got to have the anger and ferocity of my heavy metal blaring in my ear to bring that force to the pool table.
The last few items on the list are pretty self-explanatory and things I have at all times, my phone, keys, and wallet. The only things that are special about these three are that my keys must be on a lanyard and my phone has to be on silent. And I of course always feel special when my wallet has a lot of money in it!
Well that does it for my rant about my messed up viewpoint on victory assurance. I hope you know where your own superstitions lay in the grand scheme of your daily life and that you can make them work to your advantage as I feel I have my own!
