Bright recycled plastic furniture complement the active green waterfront. AECOM was commissioned to reinvent the parklands, from the master plan to the finest furniture details.
The Southport Broadwater Parklands offer Gold Coast residents and tourists three kilometres of parklands to explore and enjoy. In 2009, Street Furniture Australia supplied a range of custom furnishings, designed by AECOM, to the site.
Commissioned by the Gold Coast City Council, the multi-million-dollar project aimed to set the standard for sustainable landscapes by implementing world-leading energy efficiency and water sensitive urban design initiatives.
Associate director of AECOM’s Design + Planning team Josh Hinwood said, “The design also pays homage to the Broadwater’s natural beauty and the local Gold Coast lifestyle.”
Custom Seats and Custom Benches incorporate bright colourful battens, celebrating the Gold Coast’s infamous sun-and-surf reputation. Playful cabana-style structures line the foreshore, offering refuge from the sun and a view to the sea.
