You have several choices when it comes to locking bathroom doors and it can be complicated! Please have a read below for more information:
Firstly, do you need to have the ability to free the lock from the outside when closed? This may be a something you need to take into consideration if you have young children or elderly relatives who could get locked in with a conventional lock. Here are the options if you need this facility:
1. Use a Rim Lock with Child Release You can select from our range of authentic rim locks, which have a child release mechanism, where you fit a steel key (supplied) through the door. In an emergency this can be unlocked from the outside of the door.
This feature is available on our several of our rim locks egRim Lock Victorian,Regency,Cromwell, available in Iron or Brass. Must be used in conjunction with our small cottage knobs for the feature to work.
2. Use a Bathroom Turn & Release These is a small turning mechanism which goes through a separate deadbolt. We can supply these in brass or polished nickel and we have access to a wide range of styles. Your door knobs or door handles sit separately into a latching mechanism, normally with the turn and release below. egBathroom Turn and Release
3. Use Door Handles on a Bathroom Lock Backplate • These are door handles which come on a long backplate (150mm + length) which combine the handles and the bathroom lock in one. egBrass Door Handles Mix and Match Bathroom Lock. We can also do Iron Door Handles and Pewter Door Handles and nickel door handles with the bathroom backplate.
Please contact us for details. You need a special latch/lock mechanism to mount in the door for these handles which is available separately. • If you do not need emergency access you can use:
1. Any normal door locking mechanism eg a Rim Lock Large, Mortise lock • 2. Door Bolt eg we have a wide range of bolts, the small ones are normally used for bathroom doors egBrass Bolt, Iron Bolt, Pewter Bolt or the special Vacant/Engaged Indicator Bolt
