  1. What am I? • From the school newspaper: “Sharif Batrouka is the most successful soccer star CHS has ever had because he's the best player in our history.”

  2. What am I? • Rebecca: "I believe that abortion is morally wrong." Olivia: "Of course you would say that, you're a priest." Rebecca: "What about the arguments I gave to support my position?" Olivia: "Those don't count. Like I said, you're a priest, so you have to say that abortion is wrong. Further, you are just a lackey to the Pope, so I can't believe what you say."

  3. What am I? • Matt W. running for ASB President in the spring says: “When listening to what my opponents have to say, keep in mind that they don't really have the safety of this school as their first priority.”

  4. What am I? • Students are like nails. Just as nails must be hit in the head in order to make them work, so must students.

  5. What am I? • Rebecca F., while waiting for the cast list for the fall play to be posted: “Oh Mr. Kelly, please give me the lead role in the play because my little brother is in serious condition in the hospital, I just failed a math test, and I haven’t been able to sleep in weeks.”

  6. What am I? • What happens in Azita’s mind: "If God can do anything, he can make a stone so heavy that he can't lift it."

  7. What am I? • Rachel argued with her art teacher saying: “If Monet had been trained as a butcher rather than going to college, the impressionistic movement would have never influenced modern art.”

  8. What am I? • Plato says “the end of a thing is its perfection”; but Zygimantas argues: “Death is the end of life; hence, death is the perfection of life.”

  9. What am I? • Cassius and Hunter on running: “I had been doing pretty poorly this season. Then my best friend gave me neon laces for my spikes and I set personal records in the next three races. Those laces must be good luck...if I keep on wearing them I can't help but win!”

  10. What am I? • Cassie was riding her bike on vacation in San Diego, minding her own business. A station wagon comes up behind her and the driver starts honking his horn and then tries to force her off the road. As he goes by, the driver yells "get on the sidewalk where you belong!" Jennifer sees that the car has Arizona plates and thinks to herself, “all Arizona drivers are jerks!”

  11. What am I? • The teacher’s view: "I think there is great merit in making the requirements stricter for the students. I recommend that you support it, too. After all, we are in a budget crisis and we do not want our salaries affected."

  12. What am I? • Alex: We should really liberalize the laws on marijuana. • Zane: No way! Any society with unrestricted access to drugs loses its work ethic and goes only for immediate gratification.

  13. What am I? • Words of wisdom from Lia: "You can never give anyone a break. If you do, they'll walk all over you."

  14. What am I? • Makenna: I've noticed previously that every time I kick a ball up, it comes back down, so I guess this next time when I kick it up, it will come back down, too. • Stephanie: That's Newton's Law. Everything that goes up must come down. And so, if you kick the ball up, it must come down.

  15. What am I? • Miss Ellison taught Evan: “The sum of the angles in any triangle is always 180 degrees, so when you have a particular triangle in mind, you can conclude that the sum of the angles in your triangle is 180 degrees.”
