  1. AGAINST Posting Videos online without the consent of all people in the video Amber Santiago CIS 1055 Section 5 November 15, 2010

  2. Legality There are no specific laws that state that videos have to posted with the consent of all people in the video. However, there are laws against the content of videos and who the video is displaying. (ex. Sexual act with a minor, minor drinking alcohol) Privacy laws vary from state to state and typically have soft penalties despite what the law might state. Ex. under New Jersey's invasion-of-privacy statutes, it is a fourth degree crime to collect or view images depicting nudity or sexual contact involving another individual without that person's consent. It is a third degree crime to transmit or distribute such images. Extreme cases

  3. Issues Raised Child pornography Defamation of character Cyber bullying Lost of employment Invasion of Privacy

  4. Rutgers Tragedy On Sept. 22, 2010 Tyler Clementi, a Rutger’s freshman student, jumped to his death after his roommates posted a live video of him engaging in sexual activities with a male online without his consent. Would Tyler still be alive today if the video could not be posted before having his consent?

  5. Digital Era • Social networking sites such as Facebook allows friends and family to post videos on their pages and tag friends in the video • YouTube allows millions to post videos on whatever they want unless flagged inappropriate and removed by the site. However the video still can remain somewhere online, on someone’s computer or phone and resurface again and again. • Issues??

  6. Consequences of “No Consent Videos” and images Videos are posted, then the law is enacted depending on whether the individual files charges or discovers the video, otherwise the video can remain almost anywhere Even if videos or images are “taken down” they can resurface at anytime, which can cause loss of employment, credibility and embarrassment Michael Phelps, Krystal Ball and you??

  7. Shelly Palmer talks about issues of posting videos without consent (ways to stay out of legal trouble)

  8. THINK TWICE ABOUT WHAT YOU DO IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA…..BECAUSE IT CAN MEAN YOUR REPUTATION AND FUTURE HOW WILL THESE KIDS FAIR OUT IN THE FUTURE?? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=csIbCtgBj38
