Hamasrek winery is a kosher boutique winery which is located in Bet-Meir a nice village near Jerusalem. This area is known as one of the best areas for growing grapes and producing wine many centuries ago.
The winery was established with new and perfected equipment that was acquired from the best producers in Italy and combines wine producing with new equipment and the traditional system to produce qualitative wines that praise all the time. The wine is produced in small quantities with much attention to the quality of the wine and the preservation of the wine.
The sons of the Greengrass family are third generation in Bet Meir and they are the owners of the winery. They produce the wine by themselves, starting with the guidance of the wine growers until corking up the bottles of the wine.
THE PRODECT IN HAMASREK WINERY WE PRODUCE 4 KINDS OF WINE. MOST OF THE GRAPES FROM THE YEAR 2004 WERE GROWN IH THE JUDAEN HILLS. Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot Chardonnay gewvurtzraminer
This wine was produced from Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. The grapes which were chosen to produce this wine were harvested and selected in manual harvesting from a mature vineyard in moshav "Kerem Ben Zimra" in the upper Galile. The production process was done in a private family run winery by the owners of the winery. At the end of the alcoholic and malo-Lactic fermentation process the wine rested in new France oak barrels that have been suited to this type of grape for the duration of 18 month in order to extract the aroma from the barrels. Afterwards the wine rested for an additional period of few months in the cellars of the winery for another aging in the bottles in order to balance the tastes of the wine. Extreme care has been taken to guarantee the finest product that has special tastes and fragrances. A long resting period of the wine on the grape peels in special fermentation vats and stirring the peels give the wine a deep mauve color. The first smell of the wine is a strong smell of red fruit, cherry and blackberries. After shaking the glass of the wine, the bouquet smells of the oak, coffee are integrated with a smell of gentle vanilla. When you taste the wine, the wine is balanced with pleasant astringent. The aftertaste is long and complex. The wine is ready for drinking, but will continue developing and praising for years. This wine was produced from Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. MERLOT – HAMASREK This wine was produced from a very quality grape who was harvested by hand with the first light in the day, to assure that all the grape who came to the winery will be cold and whole. In the fermentation period every three hours the skin was mixed with the must to get the best extraction of color and tannins. This wine was past a malo-lactic fermentation and pumped to the cellar to ageing a period of thirteen month in a new France barrel who was appropriated particular to this wine. In the end, this wine past a light filter to remove the sediment and without harm the special flavor an aroma of this great wine. This wine is ready to drink now but will be better in the three-four next year.
CHARDONNAY HAMASREK The grape which was use to produce this chardonnay was grown in Judea hills near Jerusalem. The grape harvest was done by the owner The special method in Hamasrek winery to make this wine give wonderfully intensive aromas and firm acidity. Both alcoholic and malolactic fermentation were completed in new French oak barrels and in cool stainlees steel tanks. This combination keeps the grapes' aromas and gives body to the wine without attendance of heavy woody taste. The wine was held sur lie for twelve months in same barrels and tanks. Enjoy this wine with lightly meats, duck breast, fish or cheese. Serve chilled between 10-12ºC We recommend to drink this wine now and until 2007
