North Street is retained which not only allows for better access for mobility scooters but also maintains access rights for High Street retailers. A new square is now formed outside the Library focused on the Mulberry tree and a photographic area has been created outside the new registry office / ceremonies room at the eastern end of the scheme. cinema large retail unit small retail unit café / restaurant / retail site 5 south library circulation street widths Street Widths The proposal will involve new areas of public realm as well as new retail floorspace. The plan (left) shows the type of space that will be created with reference to the width of the new streets. These have been designed to be consistent with those in the remainder of the town centre so that the development has the same ‘feel’ as the rest of the centre. The new central square will be smaller than the Market Square so that it remains the most prominent within the Town. existing widths proposed widths
