  2. What you’ll learn Objectives: Use trigonometric ratios to find angle measures in right triangles and to solve real-world problems.

  3. What is a trigonometric ratio? A trigonometric ratio is a ratio of two sides of a right triangle.

  5. If you know the sides, can you find the angle? If you know the sine, cosine, or tangent of the angle, you can use an inverse trigonometric function to find the measure of the angle.

  7. Example A hill in the Tour de France bike race has a grade of 8%. To the nearest degree, what is the angle that this hill makes with a horizontal line?

  8. Solving Triangles Solving a triangle means that you need to find all missing sides and missing angles.
