Jingwww.jingproject.com • Jing is a FREE screen capturing software downloadable to your computer • Uses • Snap a picture of your screen • Record video of onscreen action • Create tutorials or how-to videos to show students how-to do something on the computer (i.e. how to save a document to the correct folder). • Requires an SWF-FLV player to view (free download from http://www.show-kit.com/flash-player/ ) • Share instantly on-line, save to your computer, e-mail, or insert into presentations.

9. Video DownloadHelper • If you are using Firefox as your browser (most are probably using Internet Explorer) you can add this to your tool bar. If you are using Internet Explorer you can download Firefox and use it as your browser (http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/ie.html ) • This add-on allows you to download video directly from the Internet without having to go to any other websites. • For instance – you are on YouTube or TeacherTube and find a video you want to use, simply click on the video download helper button on the toolbar and it automatically downloads the video for you.

It enables users to "fly" from space to street level to find geographic information and explore places around the world. Like a video game and a search engine rolled into one, Earth is basically a 3D model of the entire planet that lets you grab, spin and zoom down into any place on Earth. Now, with Google Earth 4.3, you can tour distant cities with Google StreetView, view photo-realistic 3D buildings, and even show your students sunset around the world with the new Sunlight feature.” • Tutorial on main page

Google Docshttp://docs.google.com • Free • Create and share your work online • Upload from and save to your desktop • Edit anytime, from anywhere • Pick who can access your documents • Share and collaborate in real time • Students could work on a project from their own homes viewing a document on-line and make changes using on-screen chat window. • Files are stored securely online • This is similar to your X drive on the school network in that you can access it from any school computer. The difference is that this is saved online and can be accessed from any computer, anywhere.

19. Webswww.webs.com • Free and for purchase (bigger websites cost) • Lets you create your own website easily. • It took me a matter of minutes to setup a basic website up and have it active on the internet. • Lots of options such as photos, blogs, videos, links, contact, etc.

Delicious.comwww.delicious.com • Free • “Delicious is a social bookmarking service that allows users to tag, save, manage and share web pages from a centralized source.” • “Bookmark any site on the Internet and get to it from anywhere • Instead of having different bookmarks on every computer, Delicious makes it easy to have a single set of bookmarks kept in sync between all of your computers. Even if you’re not on a computer you won, you can still get to your bookmarks on the Delicious website.”

Of course, they can do the same for you. As you explore the site and find interesting users, you can use our Subscriptions and Network features to keep track of the Delicious tags and users you find most interesting.” • This would be a good way for students to find a particular web site you want them to use without having to write out the url or save the link on the desktop.

All of the shared activities have been created by teachers from around the world.

The best thing to do is e-mail them and ask them what games would work best for your situation. • Games are set-up using PowerPoint templates. When completed, they are usable to students without students altering the games. • Students can create the games too if allowed • There are no limits to how many games you can create or computers you can put them on. • Games are smartboard interactive
