Compact , Efficient UV Laser Transmitter for Space-based and Airborne Ozone DIAL • Space-based or UAV active measurements of O3 require novel method of obtaining high powers of UV laser emission. • P.I. - S. Higdon, ITT ; Co-PI – T. McGee, Code 916; Co-I’s M, Schoeberl, GSFC, M.P. McCormick and T. Chyba, Hampton U.; D. Richter, ITT. • New Proposal. • Technique uses a high rep-rate, low pulse energy Diode pumped YAG laser to pump OPO’s to generate required wavelengths. >12% efficiency from IR to UV; 1.1% total wallplug efficiency.
