Vodcast Presentation TRC Project Mr. Biby 4th Grade Science Winfield, KS
Rationale and Objectives Students should be able to convert the different standard units of measurement for volume to create a gallon. The learner will have 100% participation during the lesson and complete the lesson with 80% mastery over the information obtained from the experiment and classroom discussion.
Standards Addressed • Science:1:1:3, 1:1:4 • Math: 3:2:A2, 3:2:K2, 3:2:K4A
Materials • Laptops, Audacity software, smartboard, standard units of measurement for volume (1 cup, 1 pint, 1 quarts, 1 gallon), FLIP recorder, FLIP software, flash drives, Windows Media Player, internet, teachertube.com, http://pbskids.org/cyberchase/games/hardproblems/, paper, and a pencil.
Cooperative Learning • Students were assigned to groups • They worked together throughout the entire unit following teacher instruction • Each group created specific roles for the members • Designed their own scripts • Recorded, saved, and imported audio, video, and MP3 files.
Accomplishments • Students successfully created vodcasts detailing the different units of measurement used to make the gallon man. • They used the FLIP recorder to record demonstrations of the units of measurement. • They then used the FLIP software to review and save their recordings to the computer
Accomplishment cont. • The students recorded their actions on the smartboard as they arranged the different units of measurement using the smartboard software. • Each group worked together to create a script that was then recorded and saved to the computer using Audactiy software. Every student helped to edit each sound bit recorded.
Achievements • The students accessed Windows Media Player and successfully imported the audio, video and MP3 files they created. • The students created a rubric defining the requisites a vodcast should meet in order to be uploaded on an interactive website. • The students reviewed and critiqued the vodcasts and voted on the vodcast that best met the requirements made by the class. • The vodcast was then uploaded to teachertube.com
