Ict – Making the shift towards enhancing learning Through web2.0 technologies Ben Jones – PDHPE Department
Do Now Converse with those around you to identify: • What “learning that is enhanced by technology” looks like? • A learning experience or assessment task in your faculty that is “enhanced by technology” Tip: Technology is broader than a computer & doesn’t always need to be handled by the student or in the classroom

How the RHHS PDHPE Department has used technology to enhance learning • Teacher Focused • Dartfish (Software/Laptop/Video Camera) • www.motionbased.com (Global Positioning System/Heart Rate Monitor/Google Earth) • Audiocasts and videocasts, accessible online. (Video Camera/MP3 recorder/online tools) • Student Focused • Video technique analysis using a video camera and media player • Co-operative learning through PowerPoint presentations • Heart Rate Monitors - analysing heart rate response to exercise • Blogging – Units co-delivered in the classroom and online using Blog Journals. Students are able to interact and ask questions through the Blog beyond the classroom. • Students use video cameras and video editing software to create video narrative about syllabus ‘big picture’ themes. • Using Bluetooth wireless peripheral devices (mouse/keyboard/graphics tablet) students are able to interact with PowerPoint presentations. • The future • MP3 Player/recorder – students creating their own audiocasts • GPS – students recording and analysing their own movement
How can your faculty use these tools? • Take 5 minutes to engage in targeted dialogue about how you can use any of these tools to enhance learning. • Critical Questions: • Which learning/assessment experiences can be enhanced by these technologies? • How can these technologies be applied? • Who will be responsible for establishing the technology? • How can we share this knowledge within our faculty?
