What is phonics? The phonic approach, starts with the sounds of the alphabet. Children are exposed to simple words first. They sound them out, letter by letter. Then they are gradually introduced to the sounds of the typical letter-patterns of English. (字母拼讀法)

When to teach phonics? 一年級: 能聽說讀寫26個英文字母。 二年級: 能流利唸出26個英文字母名稱及字母代表音
When to teach phonics? 三年級: 1. 字首和字尾字音 2. CVC ( cat, pig, hen, pop, hug) 3. 能分辨pb, td, cg, fv, sz,rl, mn 4. sight words 5. ending sounds: 例如nk, nd 四年級: 1. 長母音 ( made, kite, rope), magic E 2. 部分字音群(ch, sh, th) 3. sight words 4. 順便帶入音節概念 5.簡易讀本或是繪本
When to teach phonics? 高年級: 1.長短母音分辨(a,e,i,o,u,y) 2.進一步的音節概念 3. more sight words 4. 其他母音組合音,如oi/oy , ou/ow, r字群 5. r. l 混音 6.繪本或是文章閱讀
