Study Block Application Criteria: • Challenging Course load • Good attendance history – Grade 8-12 • Good record of citizenship Responsibilites: • Studying in library, cafeteria, or gallery • Under the supervision of a parent/guardian if off campus Approval by Administrator. Study Block is assigned via blocks 1 to 8 depending on the timetable.

  16. Peak Performance • Minimum of 15 hours per week • Minimum of C+ average and satisfactory work habits based on previous year’s report card • Competition/performance at Regional, Provincial, or National level in a sport or program recognized in the Ministry of Education’s External Credentials Program. • Recommendation of Coach or Trainer • Complete Application • Approval by school Principal

WORK EXPERIENCE • Designed for students to acquire knowledge, job readiness skills, & attitudes needed to be successful in the world of work. • Experience occupations & careers of interest to the student. • Students will attend classes & complete 100 hours of work during and/or outside school hours – for example weekends or holidays. • Placements vary from the opera to the coast guard. • Think Co-op, Internship, Mentorship

Post-Secondary Entrance Requirements • Entrance requirements have changed in many areas over the last year and continue to fluctuate. • For updated entrance requirements, faculties, and specific programs please refer to individual university websites. • Students planning to go to universities in the USA must complete their SAT’s as early as possible. (consider May, 2016)

Wide variety of courses • Excellent stepping stone • (University Transfer Programs) • Apprenticeship Math 11 accepted as entrance • Language 11 not needed • Many programs are direct to careers with connections to established employers. • BCIT • Apprenticeship Math 11/12 may be accepted, depending on program • Excellent job futures • For specific entrance requirements, faculties, and programs check their website • Attend their Open House • Make an appointment to speak to their advisors.

A student will receive a $1250 scholarship if the student meets all the following requirements: • Writes and passes one exam in each of five (5) provincial exam categories from grades 10 – 12. • Achieves at least a “B” (73% or above) final mark on (provincial exam and school mark combined) in Language Arts 12 • Ranks among the top 5000 Grade 12 students in BC (based on their percentage score) on all five provincial exams.

  31. TOP 20 SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS • A student willreceive a $2500 scholarshipif the student: • Meets all qualifications for the Graduation Program Examinations Scholarship. • Ranks among the top 20 students in BC (based on theirpercentage score).
