A Year A year come and gone A year in the life A year in Iraq A year from my wife A year to reflect A year to mature A year to grow stronger Like never before A year to see new things A year remembering old A year of kept secrets Only now can be told A year of discomfort A year of discrimination A year of proud service To a wonderful nation A year of memories A year of new friends A year that has past me And has drawn to an end
Ironic IraqFighting for freedom it's hard to believe kids beg us for food and they want us to leave Smiles from many hard looks from some all soldiers count down to the day we are done I know the big picture but see a limited view and people at home are unsure what to do Some families left empty from the ones that have past and I pray that each fallen has their honor still last I see the people protesting as they cry for an ending but Iraq's freedom, like us also needs a beginning I'm not sure about now but I've seen Iraqi children and I feel this is where We'll see our rebuildin' It won't happen over night or even a couple of years but we'll reap what we've sewn watered with our loving tears

I asked him to hold on NONE Capital letters called to me I felt his neck with no pulse Stomach pumps and rescue breaths NONE He's not breathing "Is he OK" the driver asks "Yes," Someone replies NONE I remember feeling helpless Then my silent prayer was answered My finger moved but without my help NONE HE'S GOT A PULSE Seven minutes underwater vomiting as rescue breaths help rid water NONE as he coughs on his own New life given...a second chance And next to his religious preference His dog tags read...
