His Scientific Method • Some of the most important experiments evolved the nature of combustion • He heated different materials in air and weighing them before and after heating. • He noticed that the gas released was what he named oxygen. • To help with his experiments he created a very basic version of the scale.
Law of conservation of matter • He discovered mass is transferred to another form in a chemical reaction • Which means atoms are neither created nor destroyed • The mass has to be the same before and after the chemical reaction
