Journal 11/17: “I’m Thankful for…”my cell phone… my new jacket… my baby brother’s giggle Thanksgiving is traditionally a time when people take a look at all they have to be thankful about in their lives. Often they tend to look at the big things– their families, their homes, their health, etc. For a change of pace, this year try looking at the little things in your life that you are thankful for– non-material things only. In your journal, make a list of non-material things you are thankful for. In other words, don’t list a new basketball or a new iPhone. Do list items like these: • the way my friend always saves a seat for me on the bus • my mom’s hug when I tell her about a problem • my social studies teacher because she tries to make class fun • my friend Tyler’s jokes • the way the cashier in the cafeteria always smiles & is nice, even if I forgot my lunch money again
