What is a Fundamental motor skill?

  3. Running is a fundamental motor skill in soccer. • There is a lot of running required in soccer as you have to keep up with the ball. Running in Soccer

  4. Kicking is one of the most important fundamental motor skills in soccer as you are not allowed to touch the ball so kicking is the only way of moving the ball around the field. • There are six types of kicks in soccer: 1.Push kick 2.Instep kick 3.Inner side of instep kick 4.Outside kick 5.Toe kick 6.Back heel kick Kicking in Soccer

  5. Dodging is a very important motor skill to have in Soccer. • Dodging is a skill and is performed by changing direction in a very fast motion. • Lots of soccer players do dodging in a soccer game to get around the oppositions and to the end of the their field. • Goal keepers do not perform this motor skill at all. Dodging

  6. As you are not allowed to touch the ball with your hands in soccer, catching the ball by a soccer player does not happen however a goal keeper is allowed to touch the ball so it doesn’t go into the goals. • Catching the ball by a goal keeper is the only way to see his fundamental motor skill in soccer. • There are a few types of different ways to catch a ball in soccer two of them are below the waist and above the waist/head. Catching

  7. Throwing is another fundamental motor skill performed by the goal keeper. • Once they have caught the ball they can either kick or throw it out into the field. Another way to see this fundamental motor skill is when the ball goes at of the boundary line. It is then picked up by a field player and thrown in to the field. Throwing

  8. Punting is only performed by a goal keeper. It happens when the goal keeper kicks it out into the field. • The definition of punting is when you are about to kick a ball you drop it onto your foot and then kick. Punting

  9. The one handed strike is only performed by a goal keeper. It is shown when the ball is heading towards the goal and the goalie hits it away with one hand. • It can also be performed by a soccer player however it wouldn’t be called a one handed strike as they use their head but they do use only one part of their body. One Handed Strike

  10. The two handed strike is simular to a one handed strike except is performed by using two hands. It is shown by a goal keeper and can not be shown by a soccer player. Two Handed Strike

  11. A vertical jump is when a person jumps straight up into the air to catch or punt the ball. • A goal keeper performs a vertical jump when the ball is heading towards the goals and the goal keeper needs to tape it away. • It may also be performed by a soccer player when they are head butting it. Vertical Jump

  12. A leap is another type of jump in soccer and is done by jumping high and horizontally. • It is performed by both the goal keeper and soccer player. Leap
